Keep Christ In Christmas Poster Contest
Date(s) - December 4, 2022
The Family Program Director will coordinate the KCIC Poster Contest with the St Mark’s Religious Education program director, focusing the contest on grades 1 thru 7. The poster contest will be introduced on Sunday 20 November, with posters being turned into the council on the 3rd Sunday of Advent (11 December). The winning posters will be submitted to the VA State Council by 17 December and winners announced on the 4th Sunday of Advent (18 December), with checks worth $50 distributed to each winner.
The Knights of Columbus offers multiple activities that promote Christmas and the season of Advent in their proper context: Journey to the Inn, Spread the Light of Christ, Crèche or Advent Wreath Blessing, and the Christmas Poster Contest. These programs are centered on the example of the Holy Family and the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The new Keep Christ in Christmas (KCIC) Program brings all KCIC activities together under one umbrella. It encourages councils to prompt their neighbors to shift from a preoccupation with materialism to the light of Christ and the spirit of giving. KCIC activities include whatever efforts best suit the parish and community of a particular council and do not need to originate from the Supreme Council.
